Repugnant Drug Testing

“There’s something repugnant in suspecting our neighbors of drug use simply because they’re out of work”.

What is really repugnant is that many WORKING PEOPLE who are paying the taxes to support those who are not working are required to take drug tests; and if they refuse to take the test or if they fail the test they are terminated (fired). They can then go on public assistance where they don’t have to take drug tests – now that’s repugnant!

The liberal progressive do-gooders should view drug testing of those who are receiving public tax-money as a good thing – helping them to stay healthy -- so that they can develop their skills and knowledge and regain their employability.
Also liberal progressives should be helping these people to manage their tight budgets and manage their finances and not be using tax-money to buy drugs, alcohol, tobacco, lotto tickets and junk food.
They might even join my spouse in clipping coupons buying good food on-sale and buying things like whole chickens that result in a chicken dinner, then sliced chicken sandwiches and then wonderful chicken soup (good for your body and your soul).

Drug testing is not a nice thing; however, taxpayers should not be required to support the drug habits of others who are not paying taxes albeit that they may be part of the so-called 99% or perhaps even Obama’s Occupy Street Army.

Bats Dying By The Millions – Why Stop the Wind Turbines?

A cave located at a former mine in Rosendale was among the sites of the most devastating cases of the white nose syndrome. About 97 percent of the Indian bats there died off in one year, according to results of a study released Wednesday.
DEC bat expert Alan Hicks said the overall bat die-off is the quickest and most devastating for any animal in North America this century.

The Rosendale NY mine-caves have historical significance starting in 1825. The natural cement discovered there was of such high quality that it was used in many of the major construction projects in NY including the Empire State Building. It’s strange that 185 years after its beginning, the mines should spawn this bat pandemic.

With 5.7 million bats dead from a natural pandemic one wonders why Wind Turbines are being shut-down at night to prevent a tiny fraction of one percent from impacts with turbine blades. Is there a problem in our society with the concept “reasonable and prudent”?
Apparently so because a Federal Judge in North Dakota rebuked Obama’s so called Justice Department who filed “criminal charges” against an Oil and Gas company because six (6) mallard ducks died in oil pits on their property. The Judge noted in his decision that the government’s position yielded absurd results in which many everyday activities become unlawful and subject to criminal sanctions.

The court noted that among the potential felonious bird-killing habits are cutting brush and trees, planting and harvesting crops, driving a vehicle, owning a building with windows and owning a cat. The court noted that cats kill hundreds of million of birds each year and cars kill 60 million, while windows kill hundreds of millions more.
Clearly Obama did not appoint this judge to the bench but he did appoint the prosecutors (persecutors) who brought these charges to court!
Do we pay these people? Do we really pay these people to represent us?

Apparently the promoters of this professional function were unable to find a person who is a professional singer who knows the words to our National Anthem and who is capable of singing it in a proper and respectful manner.

Perhaps we are blasé and take this basic critical service for granted when we should be diligent and focused on its affordability, reliability, availability and serviceability.

Hopefully more people will now focus on the issues with energy substitutions involving intermittent and unreliable alternatives. How many hours of good clear direct sunlight are available each year? How many hours of steady wind, within the range of turbine operating limits, are available each year? How does shutting down the turbines for birds and bats affect service? And for these intermittent sources, what energy storage systems are available to provide service during the “slack and off-line” times”
These are vital questions that need clear and compelling answers.

It’s most likely that our national power infrastructure will continue to be in the hands of ideologues whose primary objectives include choking off carbon-energy of all kinds in order to impose a fundamental change in our lifestyles and standard of living with the ends justifying the means! It’s not about the CO2 just as the spotted-owl was not about the forests and the log-perch are not about the streams.

Changes to the Va. FOIA (Freedom of Information Act); government entities may have a seven-day extension. That means a resident asking for public documents might have to wait up to 12 business days for records, more than two full weeks currently specified.

Two full weeks to get government documents that the taxpayers paid for; what a burden! However, not one word about UVA’s noncompliance with valid FOIA’s for over a year (that's over 52 weeks)! So what’s with the RT’s issue with two full weeks?

UVa's August 23 release under court order of 3,800 pages of emails - records that UVa previously denied existed - was its second since the American Tradition Institute (ATI) sought judicial assistance in bringing the school into compliance with the Virginia Freedom of Information Act (VFOIA).
The school has spent approximately $500,000 to date keeping these records from the taxpayer, who paid for their production to begin with.
The university again labored to avoid releasing correspondence directly addressing the now discredited “Hockey Stick” graph produced while former assistant research professor Michael Mann worked there.
At least 126 of those emails were sent to or from Mann at UVa and were central to ClimateGate, which exposed a purported, now disavowed temperature record, as well as the Hockey Stick and related activities by scientists to keep dissenting work from publication. The emails showed scientists circling the wagons to protect their claims, funding and careers.
Each of these 126 UVa ClimateGate emails, as with other related Mann correspondence with third parties of which we are aware, is covered by our VFOI request. Not one of them made it into UVa's releases.
UVa acknowledges withholding between 3,500 and 4,000 more pages. This likely represents around ten times the original number of UVa emails revealed in “ClimateGate.”

Will Government Motors (GM) TaxPayer Dependency Ever End?

The Government Motors bailout was $50 BILLION (yes that’s Billions not millions)

Integral to that GM fiasco was throwing the widows, orphans and retirement funds that had invested in GM bonds under the bus in favor of the UAW labor unions.

In April 2011 CEO Whitacre asserted “We have repaid our government loan in full, with interest, five years ahead of the original schedule.”
In fact GM paid only a tiny fraction thereof – and did so with other government money. It was a TARP money shuffle.
As of November 16, 2010 – more than half a year after the “paid in full with interest” national ad was run – Government Motors had only paid back $361 million. (That’s less than one percent ; 1%)!

After a long drawn-out string of debates there are now opportunities for a few Republicans to cast ballets indicating their choice. It appears Mitt Romney may be the people’s choice. The negative campaigning and media attacks are of concern to all those who are hoping for a positive change in the White House.
Republican’s shouldn’t be overly concerned about the current campaigns negatives. It will all pale in comparison to what the Obama administration, the DNC and the Major Liberal Media will launch against the Republican Candidate.

The Obama-Clinton campaign four years ago was far more ferocious that the Republicans have fought so far. However, once Obama clinched the Democrat Nomination the major liberal media implemented a “negative news blackout” relative to Obama that hadn’t been seen since Stalin’s Pravda went out of business. It was “accent the positive and eliminate the negative” as if all the major media were totally integrated into the Obama and DNC campaign committees.

Misdirected Cause And Effect Relationships

The media is a primary conduit of mis-and-disinformation propagated by publication of false or misleading cause and effect relationships.
There are tens of thousands of “scientific” papers produced each year by students and faculty who are required to produce a thesis for their course of study.
There are also thousands of papers produced by those who have an economic, political or social crusade to promote.
There is currently a multi-billion dollar taxpayer funded initiative on man-made global warming that bases and presents its cause and effect results on a “consensus” of like-minded team members advertised as being “peer reviewed” factual science.
Most of these papers are either based on man-made mathematical models or statistical analysis of historical data. Few if any rely on the rigor of “the scientific method” and even fewer are vetted by truly independent public peer reviews.
Many journals and the major media republish these papers as if they were scientific fact.
The folly of all this results when individuals, medical groups, organizations and or government entities base their decisions or policies on faulty data or analysis.

Criminalizing Accidents

Over the past few years there has been a significant increase in criminalizing accidents and the subsequent jailing of those involved. Three particular areas of focus are automobile accidents, gun accidents and childcare accidents.
Of note is the often inconsistent final disposition of the case based on who was involved and not what occurred.

A recent example is the jailing for ten years of a hunter who mistakenly shot another hunter, mistaking him for a deer in heavy cover.
-
That case stands in stark contrast to an off-duty state trooper who was deer hunting, saw what looked like a deer-flag (tail) and fired his weapon. The tail was on a dog on a leash and not a deer. He didn’t hit the dog; he shot the women walking the dog.
HOWEVER, no charges were filed. The incident was listed as an accident!

Everyone is subject to involvement in an accident. The targeting of those involved by aggressive law enforcement personnel and the associated district attorneys can result in draconian outcomes considering the lack of Malice aforethought or depraved indifference involved. Apparently disregard for an actions possible bad outcomes or failure to foresee negative outcomes has become the standard for determining who goes to jail in many cases. That applies to driving on ice or snow if a DA decides to make the case that you should have foreseen bad things before starting your trip in bad weather!

These situations are compounded for the person involved because he/she thinks they are involved in an accident and not a crime! They willing and openly describe to investigators on the scene what they think happened during a time when the investigators claim to be doing accident investigation and not criminal investigation.

Perhaps people should be reminded that there is no legal requirement to participate in an investigation at an “accident” scene. Name, rank, date of birth and serial number is all the Geneva Convention requires. One usually has 48 hours to submit an incident report after getting professional help in doing so. Police are never interrogated at the scene of a serious incident that they are involved in, why shouldn’t that apply to everyone?

Obama, Reid and Schumer claimed the two month extension of the payroll tax reduction act was a big victory over Republicans who wanted a comprehensive balanced 12 month bill. Then Obama got on the chopper and left for Hawaii.
The Obama bill directly reduces taxes flowing into the Social Security Trust Fund. That’s the “Lock Box” that Al Gore bragged about when he ran for President.
That’s the “Lock Box” that contains only IOU’s because all the vested funds were transferred into the General Fund and spent!
So all the workers who now pocket an extra $20 per month do so at the expense and peril of the default of Social Security. What a deal! And Obama and the Democrats call that a Victory!

And yet again Obama wants another TaxPayer Funded $1.2 TRILLION credit card that will primarily be used to pay the interest on the existing $15 TRILLION credits cards.

The only good news is that we’re now 12 months away from sending Obama and associates back to Chicago and electing a Republican President and a Republican Senate and Congress.
The bad news is that draconian actions are necessary to fix our financial and economic systems and there will be major changes required to reduce government spending. Hopefully the Republicans will be successful in getting Private Industry enabled and reinvigorated to generate jobs and prosperity.

This article is perhaps the best promotion ever for the most subsidized agricultural super-farms in the US. Corn farmers are not representative of “US Farmers”. They are a subset of farmers whose product, corn, is a commodity purchased by all livestock farmers that form a major source of our food.
Corn prices are extremely high, $7.50 per bushel in Sept., thereby driving up the cost of food for the consumers both directly in corn-based products and in meat-based products. Corn, at $2.50 per bushel, was historically a major export helping to offset our huge negative trade-balance. At $7.50 exports are declining rapidly impacting food prices and shortages throughout the world.

A MAJOR reason corn is at an all time high is Federal Government mandates to have 10% ethanol in auto-gas. The following article should be required reading for all those who are asking why our food prices are drastically rising and why are we following this wrong-headed path; for example:

Ground beef up 6.8 percent month over month, and 11.1 pct year over year.
Butter, up 3.2 percent monthly and a stunning 27 percent over the past year.
Bread up 1 percent and 3 percent year over year.
Chicken up 0.8 percent. and 4.3 percent year over year.

David Pimental, a leading Cornell University agricultural expert, has calculated that powering the average U.S. automobile for one year on ethanol (blended with gasoline) derived from corn would require 11 acres of farmland, the same space needed to grow a year's supply of food for seven people. Adding up the energy costs of corn production and its conversion into ethanol, 131,000 BTUs are needed to make one gallon of ethanol. One gallon of ethanol has an energy value of only 77,000 BTUS. Thus, 70 percent more energy is required to produce ethanol than the energy that actually is in it. Every time you make one gallon of ethanol, there is a net energy loss of 54,000 BTUs.
Mr. Pimentel concluded that "abusing our precious croplands to grow corn for an energy-inefficient process that yields low-grade automobile fuels amounts to unsustainable subsidized food burning".

How quickly the loud attacks stopped – but – did we notice that “The Hoods” and their associates in the liberal media never gave any coverage to the final “facts” describing what percentage of the reports were vehicle defects vs. driver error and how Toyota problems and actions compared to Government Motors data. Deaths are down to 16,000 yearly due to medication and prior deaths of high-risk takers.
All these numbers are speculation because we don’t know, what we don’t know!
For example: AIDs is never listed on a death certificate.

Our government and society still refuses to use the most basic public health system processes, developed at the time of Typhoid Mary, of tracking, reporting and isolating this deadly pandemic.

We simply let this awful illness strike unwitting and innocent victims without determining the ID of the carriers and all their contacts and taking appropriate action.
We don’t allow that to happen for gonorrhea, syphilis, hepatitis, or any of the other major communicable diseases! All detection of those illnesses by doctors and laboratories are immediately reported to the Health Dept. who employ case workers who identify and work with all exposed and carrier persons to isolate the spread of the disease.

It is likely that, from his view on high, Mr. Claytor has been reading the Roanoke Times and for the past five years The RoanokeSlant. We can be sure that his conclusion is that the Editors of the RT have wandered far from his 1886 objectives relative to economic, social and political issues and ideology and that the RoanokeSlant is reflecting the conscience of his editorial challenges; trying valiantly to adjust the current Editorial left-wing trajectory.

That way anyone proposing that “illegal immigrants” are a systemic problem is clearly racist and nasty and deserves to be shunned.

Two items of particular focus are the Poindexter-Armstrong House race and the Franklin County School Board races.

The RT Editorial Board’s endorsement and support for Ward Armstrong was misplace and based on Party not Performance. Armstrong’s ineffective representation over many years was ignored by the RT Editors and instead they based their endorsement on political control of the State Assembly and not service to the constituents of SouthSide Virginia.

Fortunately the majority of voters of SouthSide ignored The RT endorsement and the Democrat campaign of misdirected hostility toward AEP, the purpose of which was to hide the flawed Obama and Democrat Energy Policy.

The RT Editors also endorsed all the incumbents of the Franklin County School Board in direct conflict with their own paper’s recent coverage of the financial and oversight shortfalls by the incumbents (apparently the RT Editors either don’t read, or can’t understand their own news articles). School Boards are like Boards of Directors. They have the responsibility to monitor and guide those administrators they hire to accomplish the implementation of policy.
Clearly the incumbents have not provided adequate oversight and they have failed to demand proper accountability. They have not even asked the right questions to establish transparency of the administrative processes and performance.

The voters of Franklin County replaced three of the four members that were running. They were replaced primarily because they unwittingly abdicated their oversight responsibilities to a highly paid supposedly professional Administrator-Superintendent who did things his way, not necessarily the right way.

The voters and taxpayers sent a message that change needs to happen.
The RT Editors are so pleased with Obama’s changes, why aren’t they more receptive to the changes that local voters want?

Obama Class Warfare Extended to Generational Warfare

And I’ll bet that many of those nasty rich old people are also in the 1% Obama is targeting for government “wealth extraction”.

What most young people have is what they always have had – debt. They don’t own anything because they have never done anything. As the youngsters of the tribe they don’t have any cattle or goats or sheep. So they have to be shepherds’ helpers until they earn their way up to be shepherds and then accumulate sheep of their own so they can then “obtain” a wife who hopefully will bring a bountiful dowry to add to their union.

When one buys a house they don’t have an asset. They have tens of thousands of debt. In reality the bank owns the house for 20 to 30 years until the mortgage is paid-up. The same process applies to cars, appliances and furniture.

Financially successful old people (you know, those with 47 times as much stuff as young people) have paid-off their debts over a life-time and therefore have positive net assets and savings.

So what is the purpose of writing and publishing a BIG FRONT PAGE story that points out this obvious historical situation that has applied to every culture since we gathered into tribes; unless the authors and publishers objective is to expand Obama’s Class Warfare into Generational Warfare!

Let’s now expand the Obama-Marx envy and jealousy (10th Commandment challenged followers) into Retirement Facility occupiers. Then let’s confiscate the assets of these nasty rich old people. Roanoke Times, 11-3-11, Pg 1, 3: A 150 square inch spread with wonderful pictures of protesters in Oakland, Ca; broken windows, invasion of a bank and shutdown of the Oakland Port, BUT, everyone was nice and friendly and no arrests made.
The Longshoremen’s Union supported the shutdown of the Port; shouldn’t that be labeled as sabotage; and where was Homeland Security whose job it is to guard our Ports?
If the workers at the Roanoke Times joined in efforts to shutdown the paper, would the Editorial Girls write such a friendly and flowery positive story?

No ground crews to dock and secure the planes

You-all should think of it as one thing. After all cause-effect concepts are usually complex and we wouldn’t want to tax the intellect of the common man. And if there is some measurable increase in temperature over the past 130 years it must be man-made, what else could it be?
Not until the end of this article is it divulged that the article’s authors did not even address nor allude to the CAUSE of atmospheric temperature changes. What a nice touch!

Why are “we” doing this? This basic Obama program, HARP, has been in effect since 2009 and has been a failure. Redo HARP, redo Stimulus, and redo Failure! How is this going to help the jobs situation or the over-supply of homes or the flood of foreclosures still sweeping the country?

Of all the obnoxious housing situations are those who haven’t paid their mortgage “for years” and are still in the house and are using what should be the mortgage payments to buy stuff! Just like those who use public assistance to buy booze, drugs and stuff.
Why aren’t these people out of the house and into a rental unit thereby allowing the house to be purchased by new folks? No wonder consumer spending is up; yours would be up too if you were buying stuff instead of paying your mortgage.

“As Christians affiliated more through the Republican Party, liberal, marginal churchgoers became offended and left”.

What an interesting cause-and-effect conclusion, totally contrary to my views, of what has been happening in Christian religion over the past 40 years!
The Conservatives are driving out the Progressive Socialist Democrats? Really?

The following are some “anecdotal” items that somehow do not show up in Prof. Chaves’ article and are totally inconsistent with his view of who is contributing to the exodus.

During the 1970’s the left-wing elements of the Christian Church, spearheaded by New York’s Riverside Church, alienated scores of parishioners by the tone, tenor, content and intensity of their anti-war crusade. This clearly alienated very large numbers of veterans of WW2, Korea, Vietnam and their families, friends and associates, including myself who up to that time had been a faithful member, Deacon and Elder.

During the 1990’s the Christian Church and more specifically the Catholic Church alienated large numbers of parishioners by the revelations of homosexual abuse of young boys. Many laid the base fault for this problem on the prior recruitment of homosexuals into the priesthood due to major recruitment shortfalls. The premise being that “they were harmless” and wouldn’t cause any “external” issues or notoriety. This total malfeasance of church stewardship and management alienated scores of Christians, including myself.

During the 2000’s the progressive-liberal members of many Christian Churches launched major initiatives to install openly homosexual persons as clergy. This activity is in conflict with 2000 years of Christian beliefs and teachings. This alienated scores of parishioners, including myself.

For many “old folks” there is a major and profound difference between tolerance verses the acceptance of things we find to be NOT OK!

My view of the decline in faith has much more to do with the “success” of the progressive-liberal’s in forcing their views upon the Conservatives than the opposite. And, in those cases where there is resistance, the liberals have been very successful in bringing the ACLU with the Liberal Courts to force their views upon all others.

As for the general public, we are all very fickle. After all, it was the same folks that laid the palm branches down on the muddy trail one day, who several days later were yelling: "give us Barabbas"!

1. I voted Democrat because I believe oil companies' profits of 4% on a gallon of gas are obscene, but the government taxing the same gallon of gas at 15% isn't.

2. I voted Democrat because I believe the government will do a better job of spending the money I earn than I would.

3. I voted Democrat because Freedom of Speech is fine as long as nobody is
offended by it.

4. I voted Democrat because I'm way too irresponsible to own a gun, and I know that my local police are all I need to protect me from murderers and thieves.

5. I voted Democrat because I believe that people who can't tell us if it will rain on Friday can tell us that the polar ice caps will melt away in ten years if I don't start driving a Prius.

6. I voted Democrat because I'm not concerned about millions of babies being aborted so long as we keep all death row inmates alive.

7. I voted Democrat because I think illegal aliens have a right to free health care, education, and Social Security benefits.

8. I voted Democrat because I believe that business should not be allowed to make profits for themselves. They need to break even and give the rest away to the government for redistribution as the Democrats see fit.

9. I voted Democrat because I believe liberal judges need to rewrite the Constitution every few days to suit some fringe kooks who would never get their agendas past the voters.

10. I voted Democrat because I think that it's better to pay billions to people who hate us for their oil, but not drill our own because it might upset some endangered beetle or gopher.

11. I voted Democrat because while we live in the greatest, most wonderful country in the world already, I was promised "HOPE AND CHANGE".

As they restrict and or remove support for procedures and medications, these items will have to be paid out of pocket.
In Canada, ill people had to get a Supreme Court ruling to allow them to pay our of their own pocket for health care not paid for by their government.

Apparently the “scientific leaf peepers” haven’t figured out that it’s the shortening of daylight that turns the leaves to red and that lack of rain and onset of frost contributes to the intensity of the changed colors, something that has happened many times before without the help of Al Gore.

Yes, that’s the same Jim Webb when as Secretary of the Navy publicly proclaimed that “the girls” at Annapolis were there solely for the sex! Apparently that proclamation was never a problem for "the girls" at NOW or the editors of the Roanoke Times!

Webb pumps out data purporting to show the difference in tuition between “State taxpayer supported public” schools vs. private financed schools for those on the new GI Bill.

What he conveniently neglects to quantify and publish is that the taxpayers are paying the tuition bills in both cases; however, for “State taxpayer supported” schools the taxpayers are also paying a LARGE part of the state schools budget thereby artificially keeping the tuition low.
Talk about comparing apples to oranges! Talk about sucker punches! Do we really look that dull to Webb and his liberal friends in the press?

His “second hokey point” is hiding the difference in curriculum. Lots more GI’s are enrolled in the “for-profit” schools. That’s because they primarily focus on technology and skill programs instead of liberal arts and psychology and they tailor their curriculum to those who have part time jobs and or are married.

Many GI’s joined the service because they tend to be “hands-on” people instead of “book-worms”. Their service training and experiences added to and reinforced that base. There is a lot of data that confirms those with hands-on skill-based technology skills are being hired today at a much greater rate and for more pay than liberal arts majors out of our “public” colleges.

This is yet another piece of yellow-journalism that slants and biases a story toward big government taxpayer-paid socialized education at the expense of important opportunities for alternative independent educational choices.

Congressional Functionality

If there is Congressional dysfunction it’s basis is the conflict between the 50% of people who pay taxes (the Payers) vs. the 50% of people who do not pay taxes plus those who are net-beneficiaries from government payouts (the Receivers).

The Receivers are primarily represented by the Democrat Party who is the primary proponent of tax, spend, borrow, regulate and government dependency.
-
The Payers are primarily represented by the Republican Party who is primarily promoting free enterprise, personal responsibility and an open market driven economy.
-
The see-saw political, social and economic history between the Payers and the Receivers has been going on since the country was formed. The current escalation and increased confrontations are the result of two major factors:

1) We now have a $14.7 TRILLION debt that is growing by over $1.4 TRILLION per year with unfunded obligations of $62 TRILLION (one-half million per household)

Once again Harry Reid and his Liberal-Senate-Democrats have raised their ugly presence to kill a spending bill that asks government to trim the budget $1.6 Billion (a 0.04% cut)!

Congress passed this bill to increase funding for FEMA to account for the recent major storms. Included was a requirement to off-set $1.6 Billion of that increased spending. Harry Reid and associates killed the bill without any debate or consideration bragging that it was DOA!

So how big is this cut? Compare with a family budgeting $52,000 per year or $1,000 per week; a 0.04% cut would be $0.40 per week or (40 CENTS PER WEEK)!
