NY Compares Covid-19 To 1980s HIV+AIDS

COVID-19 and AIDS crisis: NYC gays see parallels, contrasts
“NEW YORK (AP) — LGBT New Yorkers who lived through the AIDS crisis of the 1980s see some bleak parallels in the COVID-19 pandemic now wracking their city. But more so, they stress the differences.
Now, they share the same plight as their fellow citizens while the federal government is pledging trillions of dollars to combat the pandemic. Back then they were frighteningly marginalized in the face of indifference from government leaders and much of the public.”

Clearly the case has been made that it wasn’t ‘indifference from government leaders’ that enabled the AIDS epidemic, on the contrary, Gov. Mario Cuomo and Mayor Ed Kotch took multiple actions that complied with the direction of very aggressive activists to suppress the Public Health actions and laws in place since Typhoid Mary.
-
No investigative interviews, no contact determination, no tracking, no isolation or quarantines and a myriad of actions taken that made HIV+AIDS the most dangerous concealed weapon in the country; striking down multitudes of good unaware innocent people.
-
For those who lost friends, neighbors and relatives the malfeasant actions of NYS will never be forgiven or forgotten.
