Although Beryl was a Cat-1 Hurricane when it hit Galveston and South Texas, they suffered significant damage from wind and water and power outages.
Clearly south Texas has become a target-rich environment subject to major damage from a Cat-1. A major contrast to the 1900 Galveston Hurricane.
