It’s of interest that Gabbard is a former Democrat, She has held the rank of lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve since 2021, and previously served as U.S. representative for Hawaii's 2nd congressional district from 2013 to 2021. She joined the Republican Party in 2024. Gabbard was the youngest state legislator in Hawaii from 2002 to 2004.
