In October, Roanoke began exploring the idea of bringing a casino to the Berglund Center site. Other municipalities in Virginia — including Bristol, Danville, Petersburg and Portsmouth — have approved casino developments, which require both approval in the Virginia General Assembly and citizens in the affected locality voting in favor of a referendum.
