The Real “UnSustainable” Issue
For years the media has broadcast from a host of sources that we are on an “UnSustainalble” environmental path!

Turns out we are indeed on an “UnSustainable” path BUT it’s a financial path of government spending and debt far exceeding what our economic system can support!
This has now become a crisis under Biden’s massive spending bills resulting in our payments on the debt exceed our national defense spending.

When individuals or businesses do this they go bankrupt.
When governments do this they crash into chaos, depression, revolution and war.

AEP electric rates continue to increase as the Virginia Democrat electric power plan laws take effect.
The Democrat Laws require total shutdown of fossil fueled plants and conversion to 100% wind and solar, that of course is impossible given the limited time the sun shines on Virginia every day and the major variability of the wind.
The Democrat Plan doesn’t address what keeps the lights and heat on when the sun doesn’t shine! Nor does it address the cost of duplicate power sources required for no sun and or no wind timeframes.

A proposed bill in the Virginia House of Delegates seeks to freeze Appalachian Power Company (AEP) rate increases for two years while introducing greater citizen input into the State Corporation Commission’s (SCC) decision-making process.
“We’re hearing from people with $700 to $1,000 power bills, and it’s just not sustainable for power rates to keep increasing at the rate that they are,” Phillips said.
Phillips attributed much of the rising costs to the Virginia Clean Economy Act (VCEA), passed in 2020, which mandates a transition to 100% renewable electricity by 2045 for Dominion Energy Virginia and by 2050 for Appalachian Power.

A judge who blocked President Trump’s federal spending freeze is Chairman Emeritus of a nonprofit that will continue to receive millions in government funding as a result of his ruling, in an apparent conflict of interest seen as a second cause for the judge’s impeachment.

On Wednesday, Rep. Andrew Clyde (R-Ga.) announced articles of impeachment against federal Judge John McConnell on the grounds that he overreached his authority and engaged in partisan activism by blocking Trump’s executive order freezing federal funding while Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) searches for wasteful spending.

Then, on Sunday, America First Legal Foundation (AFL) reported that Judge McConnell appears to have had a conflict of interest, which he did not disclose, when he ruled on the lawsuit petitioning him to block the spending freeze.

A Roanoke Murder That Finally Mattered
Roanoke, like many cities, has an ongoing crime problem that keeps being marginalized by the city council, the police and their sympathetic media.
This has strangely passed as not a crisis because the preponderance of the crime has been youthful black-on-black crime.
Not clear why the NAACP hasn’t registered some displeasure.

The latest murder victim is an 80-year old lady, well know and loved by those in her community. A difficult loss to sweep under the rug and gloss-over with platitudes that our crime problem isn’t really that bad compared to center-city-Richmond and note it’s even somewhat biracial!

A man has been pronounced dead after a shooting in northeast Roanoke, according to Roanoke Police.
Police say two people are being interviewed in connection with the shooting Thursday afternoon in the 100 block of Laconia Ave NE, and that there is no active threat to the community.
Police have not released information about the circumstances of the shooting.

Average student achievement in math for Virginia’s students remains almost a full grade level below 2019 levels in math, according to researchers at Harvard and Stanford universities who have shared data that translates changes in test scores to “grade-level equivalents,” in an attempt to add context to what those test score dips mean.
Virginia experienced some of the nation’s biggest COVID-era drops in reading and math scores from 2019-2022, so it has more academic ground to recover than other states.

Arrest made in connection with Northwest Roanoke shooting that injured five Saturday
Roanoke Police announced the arrest of a man in connection with the shooting that left five people injured, including the suspect. Donald Leroy Williams, 40, of Roanoke, is currently charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Felon. The investigation remains active and ongoing, police said.
UPDATE:
Five people were shot and two are in critical condition following a shooting that occurred on the 4100 block of Melrose Avenue on Saturday, Roanoke Police Department said.

Very early, perhaps too early, Pres. Trump made remarks about recent national policy regarding selection criteria and processes for selecting persons in high responsibility positions.

The 1989 US invasion of the Panama Canal Zone and capture of dictator and drug-lord Noriega had a significant personal connection for me. The US commanding general Marc Cisneros was a friend and fellow Artillery Officer in Babenhausen Germany in 1962. At a reunion in 2017 Lt. Gen. Cisneros gave an insightful presentation of his view of the Panama Canal invasion and capture of Noriega.
