Now I Can See The Russian Oil Rigs From My Home

Battle for the Arctic? Concerns US ignoring resource-rich region

The Liberal Media, including their buds on the night-time shows, had much fun when Sarah Palin said:
" I can see Russia from my home"!
They were of course ignorantly oblivious to the implications of her statement including Russia’s rise back to a position of power and influence and the vast riches of minerals and oil and access to and through the North West Passage.
-
The confluence of Russia, Norway, Canada and the US in and around the Arctic has become of interest because of economic and dominance issues.
Norway has significant dibs on the Arctic and Northwest Passage due to early exploration and claims established by Roald Engelbregt Gravning Amundsen.
In 1926, he was the first expedition leader to be recognized without dispute as having reached the North Pole.
He is also known as the first to traverse the Northwest Passage (1903–06). (50 years before significant man-made CO2)

The following two blog items were foreboding and right-on target highlighting the Obama administrations national energy policy malfeasance!

Preparing For Oil War in The Arctic
The Norwegian Barents Observer reports that on 8/1/09 The Norwegian Operational Command Headquarters will open in Reitan, outside Bodo in extreme northern Norway.
This makes Norway the first country to move its military command leadership to the Arctic.
-
The Norwegian Government has given the approval for the Goliat Oil Project in the Barents Sea. The field is estimated to have 173 million barrels of oil and is expected to reach a peak production of about 100,000 barrels of oil plus natural gas per day. Eni plans to start production in 2013, and keep the field running for at least 15 years.  It will be the second offshore development in the icy waters of the Barents Sea that Norway shares with its neighbor Russia.

-
The Norwegians are also major players in Cuba’s oil exploration within 70 miles of the Florida Keys coast.

-
So while Obama, Pelosi, and Reid are busy taxing and throttling our development of our domestic oil and gas facilities Norway, who is currently the third largest exporter of oil, is busy developing and expanding their massive facilities for the 21st century.
-
In addition to the Barents Sea development, Norway has claimed the vast oil reserves under the Northwest Passage of the Arctic based on the explorations of Roald Amundsen.
-

Isn’t Norway a hoot! They gave Al Gore the Nobel Prize for convincing the world that burning oil is destroying the world. Isn’t that a gigantic piece of hypocrisy and bait-and-switch that most of the world has swallowed.
-
Reminds one of the medals they (the same folks) bestowed on Jimmy Carter for establishing peace between Israel and the Arabs.

Canada And Norway Say Goodbye To Obama’s Energy Misdirection
-
The world adulations for the new Prince of Change have morphed into disappointment with Obama’s misdirected energy malpractice. Our long-term friends and business partners have now partnered with our long term adversaries at our expense and future growth and development.
-
Norway has joined a partnership with Russia to develop massive oil and gas fields offshore deep in the Arctic Ocean. So much for worrying about the Arctic Ice Sheet!
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304752804577385892170038610.html
So much for partnering with the US; and so much for concerns about “fossil fuels and AGW global warming”
http://roanokeslant.blogspot.com/2009/07/preparing-for-oil-war-in-artic.html
Apparently Norway’s Nobel Prize to Gore wasn’t really about concerns for fossil fuels causing global warming after all. Too bad Obama is still stuck in that rut.

-
Canada, our long term friendly neighbor and close trading partner has now formed strong economic ties with China.
http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052702304177104577311921156382152.html
Since 2009 China has invested $13 BILLION into Canadian companies and projects and is poised to spend Billions more.
After Obama’s rejection of the Keystone pipeline from Canada to the US refineries in Texas, Canada has started a major pipeline to Pacific ports to service Chinese tankers.

-
It should now be clear to the most naïve persons that the Obama-Gore Jihad against our fossil fuel infrastructure is misdirected, dangerous and crippling to our future economic well being and standard-of-living.
