Why Hasn’t Virginia Expanded Medicaid?

-
Roanoke Times, 6-23-2015, Pg 4:  Va. did not expand Medicaid; saw a minimal decline in uninsured from 2013 to 2014.
ObamaCare made a negligible change in the uninsured in Virginia.
-
Not one word or number of what Medicaid costs now no less what massive expansion would cost nor the tax increases to pay for that or the impacts to taxpayers or the economy.
-
Why doesn’t Virginia just expand Medicaid?  Just do it!
-
1  Over the last 5-7 years the current Medicaid program has grown from 13% of the state budget to 22%, thus crowding out spending on other core services such as K-12, higher education, public safety, and other health and human services.
-
2  In the 2014-2016 biennium budget Virginia had to put up $762 Million additional dollars for the current Medicaid program, that is $386 Million per year. In other words current Medicaid is growing due to greater utilization and costs. This trend to take a larger and larger share cannot be continued without reducing or holding steady other services unless revenue increases under the current tax structure, or taxes are raised.
-
"Estimates for adopting Obamacare’s Medicaid expansion show it will cost Virginia taxpayers $902 million through 2022,"

ObamaCare Insured are discovering that Health Insurance is not Health Care!
People who have spent their money on Insurance with high co-pays and deductibles cannot afford to go to a doctor – therefore—they are still going to emergency rooms.
Three-quarters of emergency physicians say they've seen ER patient visits surge since Obamacare took effect — just the opposite of what many Americans expected would happen.

Obama has carried out a war against private industry, free enterprise and small business job creation that has resulted in the most anemic economic recovery in a century.
The ObamaEconomy has failed the American people resulting in massive debt,  under-employment, long term unemployment and anemic 29 hour per week jobs.  These economic failures have been used by Obama to justify major socialistic programs of dependency and entitlement.
-
All this Socialism and expanded entitlements reminds us of Margaret Thatcher’s quote:
The problem with socialism is that you eventually run out of other people's money.
