Charlottesville Celebrates July 4th By Renouncing Jefferson

-
For a July 4th Holiday Declaration:
“Charlottesville Council nixes Jefferson's birthday as holiday”
“To a smattering of applause as the clock approached midnight, Charlottesville City Council abolished the celebration of Thomas Jefferson’s birthday.
Council voted, 4-1, to remove April 13 as a paid holiday at its meeting on Monday. Councilor Kathy Galvin cast the lone vote in opposition. She has previously cited Jefferson’s contributions to the nation’s founding.”
-
-
Charlottesville is truly the hometown of Thomas Jefferson.  His home, Monticello, on the high ground overlooking the city and his personal design contributions to UVAs architecture is integral to the cities history.
It’s fitting that this pathetic group chose to perform this sinister deed as the clock struck midnight.  Wouldn’t want the bright light of day and real people to witness this sad act.
-
It is difficult to contemplate who the Charlottesville City Council members really are, what they’re thinking and how they relate to Jefferson who was The most instrumental person in the formation of The Colonial Declaration of Independence that formed the basis of what would become the greatest country the world has ever known.
-
Jefferson’s Colonial Declaration of Independence laid the ground-work for the Constitution and the formation of The United States of America.
A Constitution that is now one of the oldest in the world albeit of one of the younger countries of the world.
A Constitution that has been the basis for ever improving quality of life for all Americans and formed and sustained a country that has been the Leader and Beacon of all the Free World since 1918.
-
It’s as if these self-absorbed and self-centered little people are suddenly back in the Reconstruction Era of our dark days, unable to comprehend today’s society and its opportunities for all.
-
Clearly these insignificant political minions are not even a foot-note in the history of Virginia or America.
They are the personification of Shakespeare’s Macbeth:
‘They are but a walking shadow; a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more.’

Insights from Booker T. Washington - 1911
“There is another class of coloured people who make a business of keeping the troubles, the wrongs and the hardships of the Negro race before the public. Having learned that they are able to make a living out of their troubles, they have grown into the settled habit of advertising their wrongs – partly because they want sympathy and partly because it pays. Some of these people do not want the Negro to lose his grievances, because they do not want to lose their jobs.”
