Some supporters of the Virginia referendum acknowledge the challenge of convincing voters to back a gerrymandered map when Democrats, who several years ago backed the formation of the state’s bipartisan redistricting commission, have criticized Republicans for similar moves.

Before being released from Ellis Island, and other entry points, one had to have a guaranteed job with an abode, or, someone had to sign that they were personally responsible for your room and board and care.

CBS News Texas has uncovered that a man known as Mike King, who was entrusted to coordinate security for Democrat Rep. Jasmine Crockett (TX-30), was shot dead late Wednesday night while attempting to flee from police.

Images obtained by CBS News Texas show King standing close to Crockett at events and on the campaign trail during her recent run for a U.S. Senate seat. Sources say he oversaw teams of security officers at several downtown Dallas hotels and at his church.

According to a Thursday report concerning the shooting, King fled to the Children's Medical Center Dallas parking garage, and barricaded himself inside a vehicle. A Dallas Police SWAT team forced King out of the vehicle with tear gas, and King drew a gun. The SWAT officers fired defensively, killing King.

On Feb. 26, just ahead of the launch of Operation Epic Fury, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei outlined his company's discussions with the Department of War, saying the company had flagged two issues that had not been and should not be included in contracts with the Pentagon: "mass domestic surveillance" and "fully autonomous weapons." This sparked an argument between the AI giant and the Pentagon over who should control how AI is used in the military.

There have been concerns over other military products. In the US, nuclear-weapons, chemical-weapons, antipersonnel mines and deadly-gas and cluster-bombs are controversial but all are part of our arsenal.
Our national defense contractors produce all of them assuming responsibility for their use is a national defense issue and the president bears the responsibility.

If a contractor has a product that is unique and vital to national defense, clearly the government has the option of sizing the company and the product and imposing national security restrictions and laws on people and property.

This was confirmed by a CNN reporter during a live broadcast, when missiles were arriving and she explained that the government does not allow them to report on those moments directly. Homeland Security slams Va. Gov. Spanberger for severing ties with ICE after fatal stabbing
Federal officials blasted Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger on Monday for ending cooperation with ICE after an illegal migrant with a lengthy rap sheet was charged with killing a woman at random in Fairfax County.
The Department of Homeland Security slammed an executive order signed by Ms. Spanberger when she took office in January that bars the Virginia State Police from working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain illegal immigrants linked to crimes.
“This is yet another American death at the hands of someone who shouldn’t be here that could have been prevented,” the agency posted Monday on X.

The DHS referenced the Feb. 23 slaying of 41-year-old Stephanie Minter, a mother who was fatally stabbed at a bus shelter along Richmond Highway in the Alexandria portion of Fairfax County.
Local authorities and Homeland Security said Abdul Jalloh, a Sierra Leone national with several arrests for violent crimes, carried out the slaying.
Those arrests include four other stabbings, two assaults and a 2018 rape. In total, Jalloh has been arrested more than 30 times for crimes such as theft, drug possession, firing a weapon, trespassing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

Homeland Security slams Va. Gov. Spanberger for severing ties with ICE after fatal stabbing
Federal officials blasted Virginia Gov. Abigail Spanberger on Monday for ending cooperation with ICE after an illegal migrant with a lengthy rap sheet was charged with killing a woman at random in Fairfax County.
The Department of Homeland Security slammed an executive order signed by Ms. Spanberger when she took office in January that bars the Virginia State Police from working with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement to detain illegal immigrants linked to crimes.
“This is yet another American death at the hands of someone who shouldn’t be here that could have been prevented,” the agency posted Monday on X.

The DHS referenced the Feb. 23 slaying of 41-year-old Stephanie Minter, a mother who was fatally stabbed at a bus shelter along Richmond Highway in the Alexandria portion of Fairfax County.
Local authorities and Homeland Security said Abdul Jalloh, a Sierra Leone national with several arrests for violent crimes, carried out the slaying.
Those arrests include four other stabbings, two assaults and a 2018 rape. In total, Jalloh has been arrested more than 30 times for crimes such as theft, drug possession, firing a weapon, trespassing and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
