Australia The Penal Colony Again?
-
Australia, Britain’s old Penal Colony, gained its independence and became a bastion of individualism and personal freedom well popularized in the videos ‘Crocodile Dundee” and “The Thorn Bird”.
Then something Bad happened!
Because Australia doesn’t have America’s Constitutional Freedom Amendments, dictatorial draconian’s took control of the country and have now reduced this once independent people into suppressed and controlled subservients.
'1984' Really Can Happen! The US-PravdaMedia isn't covering this issue -- wonder why?

More Australians, at least more of those in power, embrace a view of collective security in which rights are simply grants of privilege by state authorities. By contrast, the American view is that rights are God-given and inviolable, except through the due process of law.

The same views about government and the rights of the governed apply to both mass gun control and extreme COVID-19 lockdowns. In both, individual and communal power to make decisions is taken out of the hands of citizens and placed in the hands of government authorities and bureaucrats.
Australia is a warning to America.

News organizations have been slow to respond to the tide of legislation that progressively and surely threatens their ability to report the affairs of state.

There was an eerie sense of a police state when images emerged of the Australian federal police entering the ABC in Sydney and demanding access to the corporation’s files on sensitive news reports. Only days earlier the police had been rifling through the Canberra home of News Corp journalist Annika Smethurst. It prompted a heightened concern about the cankered state in which the “free press” finds itself.

There was little explanation of the reasons for declaring both a state of emergence and disaster, which hands the state’s police minister extraordinary powers to suspend the operation of any legislation passed by parliament, control all movement in and out of Victoria, take possession and make use of any person’s property, and direct any government agency to do or refrain from performing any act considered necessary in responding to what was a poorly defined emergency or disaster

Internet freedom in Australia regressed during the coverage period. Facebook temporarily blocked access to news content and civil society pages for users in response to the newly instituted News Media and Digital Platforms Bargaining Code. Other legal developments—including the introduction of the Online Safety Act, court decisions threatening to expand the country’s punitive defamation standards, and problematic laws that facilitate increased surveillance—shrank the space for free expression online.

In Victoria, this increased interest in the right to keep and bear arms proved too much for the government to tolerate. On March 31, the Victoria government issued a media release that announced a ban on the sale of all firearms and ammunition in the state. In the media release and Neville's interview with 9 News, the Victoria government made clear that the move is not intended to control the spread of COVID-19, but to ensure Australians aren't able to exercise their rights during this crisis.
