Donald Trump Attacks Republican Party of Virginia RPV
-
Roanoke Times, 12-31-1215:
Pg Va 2: Trump called (RPV rule) making March 1 primary voters identify as
Republicans “suicidal” and “stupid”
-
Perhaps Trump has some basis for the “stupid” item since no one is calling the
RPV smart after loosing to the Democrats the: Governor, Lt. Governor, AG and
both US Senators.
The RPV hindsight reasoning:
“we weren’t Conservative enough!”
http://roanokeslant.blogspot.com/2014/01/teaparty-fundamentalists-take-virginia.html
Perhaps next time we should endeavor
to appeal to:
Almost all Republicans, Most
Independents and all the Reagan-Democrats!
-
However, this attack by Trump is very interesting from both TeaParty Leadership
and RPV Leadership viewpoints.
Since Virginia’s
Legislators have not seen fit to fix the issues of Party Enrollment, both
party’s and many candidates’ face ongoing squabbles over “cross-over” voting in
primary’s and caucuses’.
-
This got really nasty in the Campbell County Republican 5th District process in
which the TeaParty Leadership claimed that centrist-GOP’ers had brought-in
known Democrats to vote. RPV invalidated
the election and the chaos and animosity continues unabated.
“They eat their own, and they’re always
hungry”! Beck Stanley Bedford
businessman.

The Republican environment in the 6th also appears to be unpleasant:

-
It’s of interest that Virginia
party enrollment has been dashed and trashed by TeaParty Leadership multiple
times. Something about the 14th
Amendment right to free association.
However, it appears that association is quite selective from a TeaParty
Leadership viewpoint. Not clear that was
the Founders intent.
-
Riding in on his BIG bandwagon, Trump wants the voting process open to everyone
he can activate with his outlandish and bombastic proclamations. This “openness
rule” would further make “Party Voting” akin to the General Election and thereby
negate the concept of a “Party Choice”.
Conversely, almost all
voters loathe “loyalty oaths”.
-
It appears that party affiliation and loyalty is of no interest or import to
Trump. Fits in well with his option that
he may run as a 3rd Party Candidate in November.
Shades of Ross Perot – what
a joy!
-
The rules making for selecting
party nominees are now in process.
Recent Republican processes have been acrimonious at best and downright
nasty at worst.

And GOP ponder options for choosing nominees:

Virginia Conventions vs. Primaries

-
-
Not clear how this is working out for our local TeaParty Leader, Jim McKelvey,
who published his strategy for winning low-turnout elections in:

-
McKelvey is running again to be our 5th District Congressman.

-
Per McKelvey’s massive highway billboard, it appears he is also a local
cheerleader for Trump:
-
-
-
-
The Constitution Party's
last Candidate for President, Virgil Goode, is also supporting Trump:

Goode: Blue-collar Virginia and the Republican Party of Virginia

-
-
On a serious note, the
current chaos in the Republican Party has a very dark side. There are many historic examples in which the
anger and animosity toward government (in this case caused by seven years of
Obama-DNC bad and autocratic governance) has resulted in very negative outcomes
and history has a way of repeating itself!
-
It's of utmost importance that ALL Republicans participate in their Party
Processes at the County-City-Congressional level, because that's where
the decisions and the selections are made for our Candidates for
office.
