Endangered Species Acts: The Personification Of Obstructionism

-
World's last male northern white rhino, Sudan, dies
-
-
From the spotted owl in the air
To the white rhino on the ground
To the black-tailed prairie dog in the ground
To the snail-darter and log-perch in the water
The endangered species acts have served the primary purpose of Obstructionism with little or no significant value-add to the environment or human condition.
The reality of extinction is:
“It is estimated that around 99 percent of the animals to have ever existed on Earth are extinct today.”
-
-
Science:  The role of extinction in evolution
“(iv) The extinction of species (and larger groups) is closely tied to the process of natural selection and is thus a major component of progressive evolution.  In some passages of “The Origin”, Darwin seems to have seen extinction as part of natural selection; in others, as an inevitable outcome.  ... extinction and natural selection ... go hand in hand. (p. 172).”

The concept of an Endangered Spices Act is Not based on science but on emotion, sympathy and opportunism motivations.
There is no valid ‘canary in the mine’ species that portends the demise of humans except the canaries in the mines and the trout in the spring.
-
The emotion motive encompasses trying to save, for as long as possible, critters like the American Bald Eagle because they are beautiful and they are the American symbol, albeit Jefferson classified them as unworthy scavengers, which they are.  If we can just save the Bald Eagles then America will persevere.
Interesting they have not been berated as a negative symbol of American Exceptionalism during the past 8-years as has The Flag.
It’s also of interest that Obama exempted wind-turbines from laws about killing Bald Eagles.

Perhaps wind-turbines will become our new national symbol.
-
-
The opportunism encompasses those who seek to obstruct projects and activities they deem undesirable.  To this end they seek out and highlight critters that have little if any impact to the sustainability of the environment or mankind, be they present or extinct.  They are simply used as a means toward an end, a tool, with no science or redeeming social value involved.
-
It’s long past time to reassess and prioritize the over 1,200 animals and 750 plants listed as endangered or threatened in North America.
Clearly this bloated list does Not represent a necessary or even desirable priority of critters and plants but instead primarily a political toolbox.
