Good move to have center lines on high traffic motor-vehicle ‘roads’.
Interesting that there aren’t any on Shooting Creek State Rd 860 up the east side of the Blue Ridge.
New Virginia State Law now makes MotorBikes equal to pedal bikes with the same access to all bike trails. Roanoke had already made that designation and access. What a joy!
So Gram and Pa out for a walk, Sis pushing the baby carriage, Uncle power walking and Junior jogging:
all better be fleet of foot when Lance Armstrong comes through trying to keep up with Marty MotorBike!
Where’s the Motor Vehicle and Personal Liability Insurance requirement for ALL?
One can’t forget the $300,000 a pedestrian was forced to pay a biker who fell on their keister!
Where’s the Motor Vehicle inspection requirement and fees for ALL bikes? Good steering, good brakes, good lights and a working tooter?
Where’s the Motor Vehicle registrations and tags and licensing fees?
Where’s the Use Fee to pay for all this Free Biking Infrastructure?
Where’s the bicycle cops to supervise all the rules and write tickets for the violators and catch the muggers?
Back to the Old Wild West and Survival of the Fittest! One might think this whole operation is run by Libertarians!

Roanoke River Greenway adds center line to keep people on their side of the path
(Really? I though median strips and barricades did that)

The project cost $16,000 and was paid for with CARES Act funding (TAXPAYERS).

Motor Bikes Same As Pedal Bikes In Virginia

Virginia passed a bill this year giving electric bikes the same designation as bicycles. This was signed by the Governor, and is now official. It says legal up to level 4, speed up to 26 mph. Virginia state parks now have this on the books. All recreational, historical multi-use trails will have to comply. This opens up grave safety concerns for the trail users, especially equestrians.

‘The electric whir of e-bikes will soon be heard on Roanoke greenways, Mill Mountain trails and at Carvins Cove following Roanoke City Council’s unanimous vote in support of e-bikes following a lengthy public hearing Monday night.’

One cannot forget the bike rider who ran into a pedestrian on the Roanoke Greenway and then was court awarded $300,000 from the pedestrian for his inconvenience.
