No Common Ground Only Scorched Earth
-
In spite of the major 2022 Republican losses by numerous Trump-candidates, we were able to squeak-out a close win in the House.
But not so fast for consolidating and exploiting our slim majority.
Let’s do nationally what we’ve done in Virginia from 2009-McDonnald to 2021-Youngkin.
Let’s Not come together to win --- let’s be relegated to the bleachers and watch the Democrats turn Virginia into another California.

WSJ: Republican Party Masochists in Congress
GOP division and disarray on Capitol Hill bode ill for the next two years.
https://www.wsj.com/articles/republican-party-masochism-gop-house-kevin-mccarthy-andy-biggs-democrats-senate-nancy-pelosi-11671228536?mod=hp_trending_now_opn_pos2
Yet a narrow GOP majority of only 222-213 requires a leader who can enforce party discipline. That’s how Nancy Pelosi has been able to govern with the mirror-image majority in the last two years. Too many House Republicans are too dimwitted to understand the uses of power and how to wield it. They’d rather rage against the machine to no useful effect.

FoxNews:
The struggle embroiling Kevin McCarthy and blackmailers in the House is not new.

(may have to copy-paste link into browser to view fox article)
A small group of Republicans in the House are trying to use blackmail against Kevin McCarthy in the fight over who will be the next Speaker of the House

'It's all in jeopardy': McCarthy says GOP opponents of his House speaker bid have not budged
https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/news/house/kevin-mccarthy-hugh-hewitt-gop-opposition-speaker-bid
Asked about those five GOP lawmakers: former House Freedom Caucus Chairman Andy Biggs (R-AZ) and Reps. Matt Gaetz (R-FL), Matt Rosendale (R-MT), Bob Good (R-VA), and Ralph Norman (R-SC), and the status of negotiations with them, McCarthy said, "Well, we’re still continuing to talk, but they have not moved."

Bob Good is the Virginia 5th Dist. R. Congressman being mentored by prior 5th Dist R. Congressman Virgil Goode.
It appears that Virgil continues to have vindictive issues with the RNC, RPV and ‘moderate’ Republicans.

Some reflections:
Virgil Goode campaigns for president against Romney 2012
https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/virgil-goode-campaigns-for-president-against-the-odds/2012/09/23/afc1243e-0412-11e2-8102-ebee9c66e190_story.html
Privately, some Republicans snipe that Goode, who is already on the ballot in two dozen states, is hungry for attention after losing his congressional seat in 2008; that he wants nothing more now than to be a high-profile spoiler who ruins Romney’s chances

Seen this play before in 2015:
Representative Charlie Dent, Republican of Pennsylvania, said: “The next speaker is going to have a very tough job. The fundamental dynamics don’t change.”
http://roanokeslant.blogspot.com/2015/09/boehner-out-teaparty-wins-another.html
“The fundamental dynamics don’t change,” Mr. Dent said. “The dynamics are this: There are anywhere from two to four dozen members who don’t have an affirmative sense of governance. They can’t get to yes. They just can’t get to yes, and so they undermine the ability of the speaker to lead. And not only do they undermine the ability of the speaker to lead, but they undermine the entire Republican conference and also help to weaken the institution of Congress itself. That’s the reality.
