The U.S. Supreme Court on Thursday struck down race-conscious student admissions programs currently used at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina in a sharp setback to affirmative action policies often used increase the number of Black, Hispanic and other underrepresented minority groups on campuses.

Now, after 60-years (1963 to 2023) of legal and administrative and financial efforts to bypass the 14th Amendment and help account for discrimination and provide some level of equality-restitution, the SCOTUS has decided that the US should move forward without the use of race as a special factor in schooling; and perhaps that will be extended soon to all forms of public and private decision making and access.

Apparently The SCOTUS concluded that the time was right to end ‘racial-preferences’ and defer to the 14th Amendment.
Clearly many others will not agree or accept this decision and its outcomes.
It appears that many young black students have needed a ‘boost’ to get into the college of their choice; not clear how that was ‘managed’ going forward after ‘getting in’.
Is that because of ‘systemic racism’ or other factors such as lack of good intercity schools, dysfunctional family homes, community attitudes, peer pressures and violent neighborhoods?

Perhaps this decision will increase the pressure to fix the inner-city problems that plague our black youths and communities. Perhaps voting into office those people who are ready, willing and able to bring law and order to the streets and establish a nurturing, academic and safe environment in the schools and a positive change to the family units.
It’s fair to observe that Democrats have long ruled over these communities and it’s time for them to stop the race-baiting and coddling and start leading.
All this is painfully clear right here in River City Roanoke.
