Delegate Poindexter Responds to Governor McAuliffe Visit, Obamacare Expansion in Virginia

GLADE HILL, VA - Today, Governor McAuliffe continued his political campaign tour across the Commonwealth trying to gain support for his administration's number one priority and sole focus since taking office: expanding Obamacare in Virginia.

"I'm not surprised Governor McAuliffe is out on the campaign trail again. A Quinnipiac University poll released on Wednesday showed only 4% of Virginian's agree with McAuliffe that Medicaid expansion is a top priority. I think he's starting to realize he's out on his own tree limb here and now he's trying to pull everyone else out there with him.

"Virginia's current Medicaid program is in desperate need of reforms to improve health outcomes and make the program more fiscally sustainable. Obamacare is a train wreck and more than half of Virginian's oppose the law. Why would we just go along with expansion without asking any questions, without making any reforms, and without assurances the federal government will pay their share? This proposal has enormous fiscal ramifications for Virginia, for our core programs like education and public safety, and for taxpayers. It's not something I take lightly and I think the Governor should recognize this.

"My position on Obamacare is clear. I believe reforms should come first and I am skeptical of Washington's ability and willingness to pay its share of the cost. I believe the Medicaid Innovation and Reform Commission, on which I serve, is the right vehicle for these reforms.

"It's time for Governor McAuliffe to drop his demands for Obamacare expansion and stop using our teachers, students, and local governments as bargaining chips. It is critical the General Assembly pass a clean budget as soon as possible. Then, if the Governor would like to call a special session for Obamacare expansion, I'll gladly debate the issue on its own merits.

And Obama is then going to send US gas and oil from the Fracking being done on private lands in defiance of Obama’s EPA thugs. How the hell did we get into this situation? Just how much Hope and Change can we stand?

Clearly Obama is Delusional And Dysfunctional and has no idea what to say or do? So then he said he’s worried about an “A-Bomb going off in Manhattan! That should make Chuck Schumer and all the other NY Democrats cringe and ask “are you safer now than you were 5 years ago”?

It is difficult to comprehend how far we have fallen in such a short time!

But the Pravda Press just keeps singing "Hail to the Chief" all day every day!

Roanoke County Doesn’t Need The UN’s ICLEI

A majority of supervisors (Roanoke County) don’t buy the ICLEI conspiracy theories, but they might ditch the program anyway.

Yet another long and tedious editorial advocating that Roanoke County spend taxpayer money to belong to a UN club for those who can’t function on their own.

A long and laborious and tedious article that weaves a web of confusion and false premises and false and limited alternatives.

Premise: The County must belong to ICLEI in order to be a good steward of the environment.
Fact: The County has a responsibility to be a good steward of the environment totally independent of any remote organization be it part of the UN or not.
-
Premise: One has to subscribe to the Gore-Mann man-made global warming AGW hypothesis in order to be a good steward of the environment and do good things for sustainability.
Fact: Being a force for sustainability is totally independent of buying into the AGW hypothesis. Sustainability is an important effort to minimize our impact on the earth, improve the environment and provide a healthy place for our people and if done correctly can be very cost effective.

Premise: Leaving membership in the ICLEI is a statement of rejection of being good stewards of our environment.
Fact: Most municipalities and most people don’t belong to the ICLEI and don’t even know what the organization is. Stopping membership in ICLEI may well improve Roanoke County’s environmental stewardship by stopping nonproductive discussions and wasted time and instead focusing on the core elements of implementing good sustainability standards and actions and measurements.

Premise: The Roanoke County supervisors must choose between membership in the ICLEI or being labeled not good supervisors (perhaps not even good persons).
Fact: A good supervisor does the right things for the right reasons for the people he/she represents. Membership in the ICLEI is immaterial to good governance and good sustainability outcomes in Roanoke County and should not be a litmus test for anything.

Yet Another ObamaCare ‘1984’ Lie

No! That's not it! Women had the birth control of their choice last year, they have it this year and they will have it next year; totally independent of this court case.

Nothing in this case prevents women from the birth control of their choice!

The court battle is over WHO WILL PAY for their birth control and what rights do those paying citizens have!

It appears that the “’right’ to birth control” part of this comes from a significant stretch of the “pursuit of happiness” clause. If that’s the case, there are a lot of things the taxpayers could buy for me in my “pursuit of and ‘right’ to happiness”!

AARP did a survey – guys want Viagra paid for by Medicare and ObamaCare. It appears birthcontrol pills are $10 a month and Viagra is $30 per pill -- talk about your gender inequality! When does that get to the Supreme Court?

How could it possibly be in our best interests to give control of this vital system to some nonentity group with totally unknown agendas and biases?

He has also used and is using government assets to harass his so called economic enemies including the fossil fuel industry, Boeing, Right-to-Work and the non-GM auto industry.

Obama set his NTSB upon Toyota as if the Japanese had launched another Pearl Harbor.
Much of this attack upon Toyota was to the direct advantage of GM.
This effort was blunted when Toyota produced “black box” data that clearly demonstrated that for most run-away cars the driver was on the gas-pedal and NOT on the brake. Not quite as enlightening as Monica’s dress – but pretty close.

Now we find out that Obama has had his minions in the NTSB look the other way and did not monitor or investigate nor demand massive recalls or levy massive fines due to serious GM safety issues; They were much too busy following Toyota around!
Even our local folks at the RT were eager to telegraph and hype the Obama propaganda.

Obama the Blessed One! Praise be to Allah! The media, all the media, totally committed 24/7 for a week on “garbage” speculation about the missing airliner with no light at all left to shine on Obama’s laundry list of issues, problems and malfeasance and broken promises.

Virginia has FOIA laws – what we need is compliance with those laws. There is no better example of giving the FOIA laws the “bird” than what UVA is doing relative to spending hundreds of thousands of tax-payer money trying to avoid shining some sunlight onto the so called “research” that Michael Mann was doing, at tax-payer expense, at UVA.

We don’t need more laws – we need Judges that have the intestinal fortitude to tell UVA to comply with the law and open Michael Mann’s files so that the public who paid for this data can see the data.
Just Like Pelosi said: you have to pass it, to know what’s in it!
My Doctor refers to that analogy as a stool sample.
Which is also a good analogy for what UVA is doing with your taxes!

Obama And ObamaCare At Comedy Show

Obama And ObamaCare On TV Comedy Show -- How appropriate is that!

Obama, the most incompetent and intrusive president in history takes his signature program that has become the example of big government malfeasance and incompetence to a TV comedy show.
And the Roanoke Times and the liberal media trying to spin this into good news!

Obama has now even “delayed” the “mandate” until after the Hillary election.
Remember the mandate – that was so important that it went up to the SCOTUS to declare it is a “tax”, and Obama stating that it couldn’t be disturbed not even for a government shut-down.

The number of people who have lost their insurance is a multiple of the new “enrollees” and many of the new “enrollees” had insurance but are now on ObamaCare with Taxpayer subsidies and most ObamaCare insurance costs more that coverage did before ObamaCare. How is all this a good thing?

Bill Clinton And The General And The Women They Covet

Roanoke Times, 3-11-2014, Pg 1, 3: General’s court-martial is thrown into jeopardy

Obama’s Army Command is hard at work prosecuting a General for sexual harassment and sexual abuse and maybe even rape of a female Army Captain.

Not clear how this would play-out if it were a male Army Captain.
All this while members of Congress have been wrestling with how the Uniform Code of Military Justice handles these types of cases.

Not mentioned anywhere is how this case relates to Commander-In-Chief Bill Clinton and the fact that he abused many women, many coerced into his den and clutches by police officers.
Don’t remember any criminal trials being held based on those complaints.
There was political civil actions taken, but that was for lying about the incidents.

Given that Bill Clinton is one of the most popular and revered Democrats in America it’s difficult to understand why this General is being persecuted for the very same behaviors!

If only we hadn't invaded Iraq with multiple resolutions of the United Nations, declaration of invasion by Congress and a coalition of many nations "of the willing" to topple Saddam's Regime -- if only we hadn't done that -- Putin wouldn't have a pretext to invade Ukraine-Crimea and annex it into Russia and Obama would have talked him out of there by now!
Damn that Bush! Will Obama ever be able to clean up his messes?

Respect Condi Rice And All Black Conservatives

“Condoleezza Rice lacks “moral authority.” She fails to meet the standards of “exemplary citizenship” and she does not have what it takes to “inspire” graduating college seniors.
That crazy thinking comes from the New Brunswick Faculty Council of Rutgers University. They voted last week to ask university leadership to cancel Rice’s invitation to be this year’s Commencement Speaker and receive an honorary degree.
There is an added element at play here. There is a disgraceful double standard amongst liberals, particularly those in academia, in the hatred they direct at black conservatives.”

On May 18, we will welcome former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice to deliver the 2014 Rutgers University–New Brunswick commencement address. In recent weeks, members of our University community have engaged in spirited discussions, and faculty, staff, students, alumni, and a range of individuals from across the nation have written both in strong support of, and in opposition to, Condoleezza Rice as our commencement speaker. We have even heard from high school students who have written to say that they would withdraw their Rutgers applications if we rescind—or fail to rescind—our invitation to her. These are the kinds of exchanges that every great university welcomes. Like all vibrant intellectual communities, Rutgers can thrive only when it vigorously defends the free exchange of ideas in an environment of civil discourse. Our students—like all members of our University community—benefit from these kinds of energetic civic exchanges, and through them learn to develop, articulate, and defend their own values and their moral and ethical positions.

Whatever your personal feelings or political views about our commencement speaker, there can be no doubt that Condoleezza Rice is one of the most influential intellectual and political figures of the last 50 years. She has been on the Stanford faculty as a professor of Political Science since 1981, and she has won two of the university’s highest teaching distinctions. From 1993 to 1999, she served as Stanford’s Provost, the institution’s chief academic officer. In 2001, she accepted the offer to serve in Washington, D.C. as National Security Advisor and later United States Secretary of State, the first woman of color to serve in that role. In March 2009, Dr. Rice returned to Stanford University as a professor of political economy in the Graduate School of Business and in political science and as the Thomas and Barbara Stephenson Senior Fellow on Public Policy at the Hoover Institution. Dr. Rice’s success and influence is all the more impressive when considered in the context of her childhood in the segregated South, during the most tumultuous and violent years of the Civil Rights struggle.

As many of you have suggested in your letters and in discussions with me, we live in a time when politics can be deeply polarizing. Like our fellow citizens, you and I—our colleagues—have deep and sincerely held beliefs and convictions that often stand in stark contrast to others around us. Yet, we cannot protect free speech or academic freedom by denying others the right to an opposing view, or by excluding those with whom we may disagree. Free speech and academic freedom cannot be determined by any group. They cannot insist on consensus or popularity. These principles are, in fact, best illustrated and preserved when we defend perspectives that we oppose or when we protect what may appear to be a minority view.

My hope is that we can use these seemingly controversial moments to reaffirm our commitment to open and civil discourse. Indeed, they provide strong evidence of a healthy and engaged University community. I will continue to work with you to guarantee the University remains a space where ideas can be considered, discussed, and debated, a space that embraces and defends civil discourse, free speech, and academic freedom.

The voters of Pennsylvania rejected Rick Santorum’s Senate reelection bid by over 20%.
He has used that failure as a platform to run for President, another major failure.
He is now using those failures as a basis to guide the Republican Party toward more failure.
Rick Santorum has done more damage to the Republican Party and the Republican Brand than Obama and the DNC.
It’s way past time for Republicans to send Rick the message: Time to go home!
