Education TrainWreck: Even California Educators Are Waking-up
-
Our nation’s competitors and adversaries have been pleased with the collapse in US educational competence since “the virus” consumed US society.
Not only did we let the ‘teachers unions’ destroy teaching & learning during the pandemic, but it has not been restored since!
In stark contrast are the religious-based schools that continued teaching during the pandemic with minimal medical issues and significant academic success.
At last, the teachers ‘who care’ are raising the teaching-learning issues impacting our students and our schools. If California can come out of the closet, so hopefully, can all our other schools. Hopefully better late than never.

California board of regents to review SAT/ACT testing ban after 1,400 professors warn of ‘severe’ math gaps
University of California faculty letter warned that eliminating standardized tests masked severe academic deficiencies in STEM students
https://www.foxnews.com/media/uc-system-review-standardized-testing-ban-after-1400-professors-warn-severe-math-gaps
-
The University of California (UC) announced Thursday that it is launching a comprehensive review of its standardized testing policy. The pivot follows a massive revolt by faculty members who warn they are being forced to re-teach middle school mathematics to incoming university students.
-
"The Board of Regents and University leadership take very seriously the critical issue of college preparedness, and the UC Academic Senate has proposed a comprehensive, data-driven review to support its recommendations to strengthen student readiness and success at UC," University of California President James B. Milliken said in a statement. "There are few things more important on our agenda."

Teachers Unions Fail Our Children And Country
http://roanokeslant.blogspot.com/2021/03/teachers-unions-fail-our-children-and.html
Of all the sad adverse consequences of the China Virus, the teacher’s union’s refusal to open our schools and embrace our children is one of the saddest followed by their blatant extortion of the taxpayers.

Is Me.Sen.R. Susan Collins “LookIn Good”?
-
Susan Collins is an enigma and a master politician serving as Maine’s Republican US Senator since 1997.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_Collins
-
One may think that because Maine is a place of outdoor independent individualism, that it would be loaded with Republicans, however, that’s Not the case.
Just as the same logic would apply to Vermont, however, both states have evolved into high-government-dependency and therefore Democrat influence.
-
For 29-years Collins has woven a web of politics that keeps getting her elected.
Much of the time voting against fellow Republicans in Congress and White House.
Trump’s recent vendetta against so called ‘RINO Republicans’, excluded wrath for Collins.
-
It will be interesting to watch Collin’s spar with Platner and his nemesis Bernie Sanders with their Communist Manifesto.
Might even import the Lenin statue from Seattle.

CopyRight Rules & Laws Run Through The AI Shredder
-
AI is now not only too big to fail, it’s too big to be constrained by patent and copyright rules and laws and ownership and attribution.
It’s somewhat like ‘eminent domain’ being used to take your real-property and evict you from your own home without compensation.
-
There were laws and rules governing use of someone else’s original written materials. This was bounded by the “fair use” rules that limited the amount of ‘direct quoted’ material one could use.
-
Fast forward to today’s AI ‘no rules, no limits, no bounds’ on what the AI ‘people’ are taking even without credits or footnotes --- just copy it and use it.
This ‘taking’ involves massive volumes targeting the library of congress, the files of the patent office, technical manuals, product specs, the universities dissertations and textbooks just for starters.
-
To add insult to injury AI companies are claiming “Fair Use” applies.
-
When did the CopyRight rules get changed, who changed them and where is all this documented?
-
Perhaps our race with the Chinese for AI dominance will override all the existing rules and laws in the ‘best interests of the country’ and be at the expense of those who originated and owned all this intellectual property!
California Voting And Voting And Voting And Voting

Apparently, California’s going to keep on voting until they get the result they want!
Is this Not the most technologically advanced country in the world?
Reflections of JFK’s father: I paid for a win – not a landslide!

I remember when there was a “Voting DAY”
Even the “absentees” were counted.
Poll workers didn’t go home till the counting was done.
And number of votes = number of voters! All were registered legal residences!

The amazing good California News:
XAVIER BECERRA and STEVE HILTON are advancing to the general election
Xavier Becerra DEM 2,390,780 27.9%
Steve Hilton GOP 2,137,993 25.0%
Tom Steyer DEM 1,928,381 22.5%

Trump and others criticize the long wait for results in the Golden State, but an onslaught of late mail ballots takes time to process.

Perennial For Cal Gov: Fat Cat Steyer
Left-Wing Super-Progressive Fat Cat Steyer is running for Cal Governor on a platform of reducing energy bills! Really!
This in THE state of regulations and controls and mandates and taxes on top of taxes.
Steyer — a former hedge fund manager turned liberal activist — has spent or booked more than $195 million in ads for broadcast TV, cable and radio with the tally still growing, according to data compiled by advertising tracker AdImpact

It’s difficult to comprehend how a great state like Maine could promote a person with Graham Platner’s history and character and campaign statements to US Senate candidate.
Apparently, the voters looked at todays US Democrat Senators, like leader Chuck Schumer, and said ‘why not?’.
Based on this primary-election, it’s not clear who Maine voters will choose between Susan Collins and Platner.

Platner Wins Maine Senate Primary After a Turbulent Stretch of His Bid
Graham Platner has faced new scrutiny over his personal history, but his Democratic primary victory sets up a high-stakes race against Senator Susan Collins, a Republican.
https://www.nytimes.com/2026/06/09/us/politics/maine-senate-platner-mills.html
-
Graham Platner, the progressive oyster farmer who toppled Maine’s political establishment even as a series of unsettling revelations about his past rattled his party, won the Democratic nomination for Senate on Tuesday, according to The Associated Press.
-
In a victory speech that took aim at Ms. Collins, Mr. Platner declared that his political movement would “take back our power” in November and subsequently enact a raft of progressive legislation, including codifying abortion rights and passing a single-payer health care system known as Medicare for all.
-
Mr. Platner dismissed the news reports about his past as immaterial to the coming general election.

The Great American Job-Creation Machine Comes Back to Life
Demand for labor is back. Some economists speculate that immigrants are rejoining the workforce, boosting labor supply.

U.S. Adds 115,000 Jobs With Solid Hiring Across Sectors
https://www.wsj.com/economy/jobs/april-jobs-report-unemployment-35aead9a
-
The U.S. job market blew past expectations again in April, buoyed by gains across industries including retail, transportation and warehousing, and healthcare. The results were a sign that the labor market remained resilient so far in the face of the Iran war.
The numbers
The American economy added 115,000 jobs in April, the Labor Department said Friday, far exceeding expectations.
That was down from a net gain of 185,000 in March. But it was much better than the 55,000 jobs that analysts polled by The Wall Street Journal had expected to see for April.

U.N. climate forecast shelved as ‘implausible’ has been central to the left’s arguments for years
Impossible end-of-world scenario was mischaracterized as the likely outcome
https://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2026/jun/4/un-climate-forecast-shelved-implausible-central-lefts-arguments-years/
The climate charade went like this: Scientists conjured worst-case, doomsday scenarios and used them to paint vivid pictures of melting polar ice caps, rising sea levels and flood-prone oceanfront property in Ohio.
-
With help from allies in the media, this far-fetched, climate-fear porn was mischaracterized as the likely result if the world continued “business as usual” in its use of natural resources for energy production.
-
This strategy to intentionally frighten people was used to promote leftist policy goals at the local, state and federal levels. It has also been the basis for dangerous climate litigation that now threatens to undermine the entire American economy.
-
Yet it was never true, and it all came from the United Nations.

Cars Now UnAffordable
-
Cars were once the centerpiece of US economy — “See USA in a Chevrolet!”
-
Our family first new US car was a 1954 Chevy for $1600.
My first new GI German car was a 1962 VW Bug for $1250 (5,000 Dmarks)!
Today’s US car average is $50,000, more than twice the cost of my first new
home in 1965!
Today’s US used cars average cost: $26,000!
And US cars are big and heavy and continue to be gas-hogs!
And US customers are Not Yet Ready to buy Small EVs!
-
Prognosis: The next US economic down-turn will be very painful!
