MONETA — With the Roanoke region and much of Virginia experiencing increasingly dire drought conditions, Gov. Abigail Spanberger visited a water-intake station at Smith Mountain Lake to urge residents to take voluntary steps to conserve water.

Spanberger met with state and local leaders at Smith Mountain Lake on Thursday to talk about the drought. The group gathered on the depleted lake's shoreline, a short distance from the drinking water intake site connected to the nearby Smith Mountain Lake Water Treatment Facility, which provides drinking water for thousands of homes and businesses in Bedford and Franklin counties.

My service included: joining the 5th Corps Arty in Germany that was confronting the Communist Russians who were on an aggressive path in Europe with major saber-rattling, building the Berlin Wall, massing 2-million troops and 50,000 tanks along the West-German border, murdered our president, and installed nuclear missiles in Cuba!

At that time a responsive US chant was: “Better Dead Than Red”!
Perhaps we are circling back to that view as openly Communist candidates in the US are rising in some of our left-leaning political communities’. Aggravating the situation has been our uncontrolled open borders and several massively wealthy left-wingers who support pseudo-socialist candidates.

President Trump addressed this challenge at his ‘250’-speeches at Mount Rushmore and at the DC mall, causing the PravdaMedia to immediately throw a warm protective blanket over what are clearly communists and fellow-travelers.

A concerning aspect of this situation is that the leaders of the Democrat Party are Not confronting nor condemning these anti-American elements but are ‘tiptoeing’ around them.
